BRITAIN’S PREMIER JEWELRY SHOW SET TO OPEN SEPTEMBER 2

As they do each year, members of the United Kingdom’s jewelry and gemstone sectors will mark their return to work at end of the summer vacation with a visit to International Jewellery London (IJL), the country’s premier jewelry trade show, which will open its doors for the 63rd time on September 2, and will run through September 4.

Organized by Reed Exhibitions, the event will take place at the Olympia London exhibition and conference center on Hammersmith Road, in the West Kensington neighborhood of the British capital. The 2017 edition of the show featured some 520 exhibitors and welcomed about 9,000 professional visitors, and similar figures are forecast for 2018.

Among the most prominent suppliers at the london show will once again be MID House of Diamonds.

BRIDAL JEWELRY IN THE SPOTLIGHT

While the British economy remains in a state of flux, as the country government struggles to negotiate a pathway out of the European Union, jewelry demand has been relatively buoyant, posting modest but solid increases, which was good news for many after the downturn that followed the Brexit vote in 2016. The most pressing issue has been the relative weakness of the British pound, which continues to languish.

Brexit or no Brexit, the British will continue to marry, and when they do so diamond jewelry will brought. Such will be the dominant theme at IJL 2018, which will feature a dedicated Bridal Showcase.

“The bridal sector is a key focus for the jewelry industry in the UK, and is certainly booming with over 250,000 marriages taking place last year,” said Fotoulla Michael, head of sales at the trade fair’s management company. “Ninety four percent of our visitors from the UK and internationally look to gain an insight into the bridal sector by attending IJL, so the show is an excellent opportunity to discover the latest trends.”
