7 MIND-BLOWING MARRIAGE PROPOSALS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Last week, a Belgian publication called Flair Magazine made some international buzz with an original campaign: under the motto “If you want it done right, do it yourself”, the magazine launched an “Ask him to marry you” campaign, encouraging women to propose their partners. The most original offer will award the lucky woman with a $2,500 diamond engagement ring, donated by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre.

This unique campaign gives us the chance to revisit some of the funniest, most original and just downright awesome marriage proposals ever uploaded to YouTube. We’ve had a hard time finding any proposals by women, but as you’ll shortly see, many men still do it right.

#1: GUY PRETENDS TO JUMP OFF THE BUILDING

This proposal is already a classic: A guy asks his girlfriend of four years and some friends to join him on the roof. He stands on the edge, asks a friend to toss him the engagement ring… and the rest his history.

#2: THIS GUY CAN SING!

No great acrobatics here and no jumping off buildings. This lovable guy proposes to his girlfriend by singing to her, and boy, can he sing!

#3: LIVING IN A MOVIE

This is one of the most shared marriage proposal videos of all time, and for a good reason: a guy from Australia concocted a very elaborate plan that includes an excellent proposal video, a theater packed with friends and family, and the perfect ending.

#4: MIND THE GAP!

It sometimes takes a quiet British lad to pull off a Hollywood-style production: this man hired a group called the Adam Street Singers to sit in his girlfriend’s train carriage and to “spontaneously” start singing “Lovely Day”. Then he enters the carriage, and surprises her with a ring.

#5: LIP-DUB AWESOMENESS

This is arguably the best proposal of the lot, and certainly the funniest: A guy tells his girlfriend to meet him at his parents’ house for dinner. What happens next is the world’s first Live Lip-Dub Proposal. A must watch!

#6: TOP GUN IN REVERSE

This Swedish firefighter has actually managed to clear a runway to propose to his pilot girlfriend. She is somewhat less emotional or overwhelmed than her American counterparts; yet, weirdly, this makes the clip extra special and moving.

#7: CALIFORNIA WOMAN

Hurray! We’ve found one woman with guts to spare. In this video, an unsuspecting man is ambushed with a flash mob at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, California. You can skip ahead to 3:29 and watch his girlfriend get down on one knee.
